TUNNELVISIONS, COREL AND DEFMAN KICK OFF ART FESTIVITIES FOR THE 2002 DEEP ELLUM FILM FESTIVAL

DALLAS, September 23, 2002—The Deep Ellum Film Festival, in conjunction with artist Frank Campagna and Tunnelvisions, will kick off this year’s opening art festivities by co-hosting the tunnels repainting, Sunday, November 10 at the Good Latimer tunnel in Deep Ellum. "Since the demolition of this beautiful structure is still several years off," says Campagna, "we thought it would be a perfect time to repaint the tunnel and give it one final face lift."

Originally conceived by Campagna in 1993, the painting of the Good Latimer tunnel has brought together hundreds of artists and business-types from across the state and is commonly known as Texas’ largest "drive through work of art".

DEFMAN, the executive arm of the Deep Ellum Film Festival, will be bringing their highly decorative, 1977 Flexible bus purchased from traveling hippies in 1999 and made famous by a christening by Peter Beard, Sandra Bullock and Peter Tunney. Local artists will be paint the vintage school bus before it travels to L.A. as a gift to the Santa Monica Film Festival.

As in past Tunnelvision events, proceeds will benefit the non-profit, Deep Ellum Association as well as "The Cancer Relief Fund"

RAIN DATE - SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17th, 2002.
