Stunt Mania : Links

Stunt Mania is not the only project of its type on the internet. There are also a few others. These are free :

Based, as far as I can tell quite loosely, upon a C64 game with the same name, this is another multiplayer racing title with modern 3d graphics and a track designer. Like Stunt Mania, it is also unfinished, but unlike Stunt Mania its author doesn't seem to believe in releasing work in progress executables. However, there are some very nice screenshots and a progress diary, do check it out in case it has been finished since I wrote this text.

Ultimate Stunts

Another remake of Stunts / Sports 4d Driving, also targetting OpenGL 3d hardware and the UNIX / Windows operating systems (although I notice it is GLUT based, so MacOS, etc, shouldn't be a problem). Seems to have been in development a broadly similar length of time to Stunt Mania, so without updating this links page every day it is hard to say whether it is presently ahead of or behind this project.

Creative Racing

Another driving game with a track designer, but a fully complete one! It requires a better PC than mine (which is to say that I have a very low spec. PC and nothing more), so don't ask me about gameplay, but it certainly looks very competent. Why not try it?

Crashday

Crashday is a commercial offering, directly citing Stunts as one of its influences, which will offer a track editor and complete freedom of driving. It isn't finished yet, but a rolling demo is available, and naturally as a commercial proposition enjoys the sort of artwork a project such as this will take years to build up.

Easily one of the better sites for learning about the original Sports 4d Driving / Stunts, with all versions available for download, 100's of extra tracks, etc.

France Stunts Championship

A large part of this site is dedicated to one of the continuing Stunts competitions, but it also contains a lot of other Sports 4d Driving / Stunts material.

The mailing list dedicated to all topics related to Sports 4d Driving / Stunts, including competitions, level design, utilities, etc

Easel 3d is the web site portfolio of Rustom Patel's art work related to computer games. Rustom has very kindly allowed me the use of textures from his site within Stunt Mania.

This is a site explicitly offering royalty free textures for amateur game programmers such as I. Some Stunt Mania textures are sourced from here.
