Tutorial On Editing Individual Brush Faces
- | |
Its quite surprising how many people do not understand how to edit the individual faces on a brush. This short tutorial will attempt to explain this essential tool that must be known by all mappers if they are ever to become successful.
The First step is to select the face you want to edit. This is very simple and can be done in either the 3D or grid mode. To do this simply click on the brush on the side of the face you want as if you were going to expand that side (but don't expand it). A selected face should look like this:

Doing this will give your four useful options:
1) Texture: Change the texture on that face. You can do this by either pressing the down arrow on the list of textures and selecting one form the list or by pressing the "choose texture" button and browsing through the texture browser.
2) Origin: X Y and Z coordinates that indicate where the texture starts on a brush; the textures position. This can be useful for small modifications to the origin however it is easier to position the texture using the blue lines in the helpful 2D view of the face below its properties (bottom of pic).
3) Scale: The scale of the texture on the brush. Usefulness may vary, generally used to make a texture fit a brush.
4) Angles: The angle of the texture on the brush. Can also be negative values (ie. 0 -90).
As you can see its really quite simple to edit the faces of any brush. This should point you in the right direction as to how to go about doing this.
