Home       Guide       JTag      Specifications       Software       Code       Links

This page is meant as guide for recovery of receivers which is not functioning due to flash problems.

Important note before you start:

1) The Jtag cable should not be longer than 12". Best to keep it as short as possible.
2) Before you decide to upgrade your receiver firmware, please do a backup of your original firmware
3) Your receiver flash rom can be erase and program again and again.
4) Loading the wrong file into your receiver will not damage your flash rom but only render your
receiver non-functioning. So if you happen to load the wrong file to your receiver, you can use
    Jtag to reprogram it.
5) If Jtag can read your flash rom, then the flash rom is fine. If not, then is corrupted.
6) It is always safer to use Jtag to upgrade your receiver than to use Null modem cable.
7) When you use Null Modem cable to load firmware into your receiver, even a slight error on the
serial port or cable will affect the transfer of file from your computer to the receiver.

Identifying the Chipset (eMetabox III)
1)With the receiver FACING YOU from the front
2) Open the Casing
3) Look inside and on the right-hand side you will see the Card Reader or Cam slot
On the Left Hand side just next to the Card Reader slightly lower on the Main Board
You will see a CHIP 1/2 Inch x 3/4 inch approx and see if it says:-

Hyundai - Korea
HY29LV160 TT - 90V
0109A

THIS IS YOUR FLASH ROM.

4) If this is the CHIP then you can use all the software for 1-2-3 Boxes.
If not, write this number down and keep for future Reference.
5) This way you can state your CHIP number and then maybe it will be easier to identify
the type of receiver you have and software to use.
