9.9.03- Man.. I'm so tired. I have to take antibiotics now. Anyway, I went to the doctor today to check out this lump on my neck, to make sure it wasn't cancer or a tumor or anything. He said it most likely was not, as I would be all sick and tired all the time. So he gave me some antibiotics and now I'm all tired and stuff. Anyway, nothing much else is new.. had a lesson with Don Hough, and got ripped apart, as usual. But that's good, because that means he's okay, because he just had surgery. But I have a ton of practice to do if I'm going to be the "man" at jazz.. speaking of, we're starting jazz combos at school, if you haven't heard yet. Join if you can play any instrument that you can imagine being in a Jazz-type band. I'm going to, for sure. I'm in the one that rehearses from 4:00 to 4:45, if you care to know. Well, that's all that's going on.. eh.. yep. See you all later.
9.7.03- Hehe.. I just got up and it's like 1:30.. time to go mow the lawn and stuff. I hate mowing our lawn. I can't wait till winter just for that reason. Anyway, I must do it now, so I'll see you later, probably update some more tonight. Another band story is up, you should go check those out; they're hilarious.
9.5.03- Man. tehearsal sucked tonight. Stupid annoying bugs.. you'll never believe what I did today. So I'm standing around swatting the bugs on my arms and legs.. and one landed on my upper lip. Not realizing the danger of mosquito-like bugs being so close to my nostrils, I clumsily sniffed in to clear my nose, and along went the mosquito-like bug, into the back of my throat. Pretty funny, though, because I know it's somewhere in my trombone; probably left when I had to play loud. Bleck. I want to do well! Not lame, like today! Erg, band. Sleepy time for the Shaun-boy. *snore*. Oh yeah, lots of updates, mp3s will be fixed on Saturday. Also, my recording of the first two mvmts. of "Concertino" by Ferdinand David is going up with them. It's not that great, though.. I screwed up 20 or so notes out of the 6:16 recording.
9.4.03- Finally.. I'm ungrounded. It's good to be free. Anyway, some of the mp3s are down because the stupid site deleted my whole other site.. so I'll see what I can do to make it think I'm not using it just for space. Man.. it's pretty bad when you're trying to outsmart a bunch of silicon. Argh. I'm sure millions and millions of others are thinking the exact same thing right now. I'm so glad I don't have to get a Conglom-O job. AAH! Gtg.
8.26.03- I did some thinking today (amazing Shaun!) and a little math.. and came to a conclusion. Everybody knows that the football team does (or did) go out to eat after every game and had steak on the football team's budget. Here's what I've realized.. you take 100 football players, multiply that by a 10-12 dollar meal.. and that's $1,000-$1,200 dollars, each time. Not to mention that we also participate in and help out with the games.. and all we get is concession money, which is about an average of $1,500 a game, if that. If they can afford a meal every friday that costs so much that we could almost buy a brand new mellophone for each week, I don't see why the band isn't getting more of the budget from the game. Not to mention the football team still has enough money to have the field mowed, new grass grown, charter buses for each away game, and a banquet at the end of the year. Do they even bother with fundraisers? Meh. Enough rant. I think we did better today in rehearsal. We might actually get the ballad down by the end of this week, if we go outside every day. Hehe.. I gotta read something on the site, according to Stefan. Later!
8.25.03- Yeah.. we suck. It's so sad though.. every time I see Mr. Jackson before rehearsal, he's always in a really good mood; ready for improvement. And by the end of rehearsal, I see disgust in his eyes in the fact that almost half of our band doesn't even care. Yeah, I care. I care a lot. But I can't do anything about the 50 or so that don't. Especially when they are not in my section. And will somebody back me up on the issue that the tubas need to keep tempo?!? I tried to tell Michael the other day and he snapped at me, told me to quit telling his section what to do, and proceeded to called me a stupid faggot. Yeah.. that made me just a bit angry.. even though I'm not homosexual in any way. Personally, I think he needs to get a personal bitching at by the band directors at the extent that he always bitches at us. Let's give our band director some hope tomorrow and the following days after. I want to go to BOA!
8.23.03- Ah.. sleep is good. Overall, I went 39 hours w/o sleep last night, a new record. I think it was like 33 hours before, when I was in PA. And I had like 12 hours of sleep the night before, opposed to the 5 I got the night before this one. Haha, and I read what I wrote last night, too. Man, I suck at writing when I'm deprived of sleep. Meh, it made sense to me at the time. I didn't even realize I had spanned a sentence out over like 100 words. Anyway, good news for the site, I managed to make another account for some more space. Now I have double what I had before. I put up all the rest of the All-State mp3s (4 of them) and a new song called "October", a really really beautiful piece by Eric Whitacre. If anything, you have to hear that one.. Mr. Jackson might be thinking about letting us play it for Symphonic Band (His exact words were "Yeah, I definitely want to play that, too.. but we don't have an oboe. I think the solo is written in the flute part, though.") I REALLY want to play this next semester. I'm going to put a list of all the songs I want to play before I get out of college up on the site sometime. Mowed the lawn today. Sucked. Watch movie now.
8.22.03- It's been like 5 days since I've updated. Anyway, last night was a game and I didn't get back until late and then I spent from 1:15 AM to 5:45 AM doing homework. So I didn't even bother going to bed. As of now, I'm going on 35 hours without sleep. Wee! Actually, I passed out or something for about 30 minutes in U.S. History because I remember waking up.. but I don't remember going to sleep or even putting my head down. It was worse today, but it's kind of feels normal now besides the delayed vision and the headache. I'm so glad I got that work done though. It took forever! And they aren't having anymore Thursday games either. I'm glad about that too. Is it just me or am I starting to make less and less sense? Hehe. At least it's Friday and we don't have to play for the stupid Jamboree that they just absolutely couldn't have on a Saturday like they normally do so they had to screw up my Thursday night and Friday eh.. day. I'm going to ask Mr. Jackson if he can put that recording on a CD or something for the show. That'd be nice to have on here. More space would be good too. I think what I'm going to do is just register another name on megaone.com so I can get 50 MB of more space. Done now. See ya!
8.17.03- Shaun Kahler is an absolute idiot. I write one thing that's useful and makes sense to me.. and then when I think I've put it in my bio section and not just taken it off the main page.. I didn't.. and I didn't even bother saving it on my computer. *Angry*. If there's anybody who just happened to save that on their computer (highly doubtful), then if possibly, could you please send it my way? Lol. AAH! gtg.
Almost 8.16.03- I updated my bio so that it has something useful written in it.. and moved that really long rant off my blogs section into there. I am also making a CHS Band AIM list, and I'll put that in the menu. Well, los veré luego!
