There was a time when words had real meaning. There was a time when English teachers actually taught their pupils English. I’m in my 50’s but I remember Mrs. Schultz correcting students with her ruler and I remember Mrs. Moser gently prodding her students with encouragement. Both methods were effective because both of those dedicated ladies were trying their best to convey to a much younger generation the importance and the meaning of words. They knew that the most cogent way for a student or citizen to communicate effectively and get ahead was to understand and command the language.

There was a real ethnic mix in those one-room schools. Walter’s folks were from Czechoslovakia, George’s folk’s from Russia, Tony’s family was from Italy, and Tom’s folks were Polish, but they all shared the same goal. The point of the exercise was for all the kids to learn the language and become Americans. Their parents were adamant and more than once I witnessed a boy slapped by Mom or Dad for speaking to Grandma in a language not English followed by the statement: "You’re in America, speak English!"

Those days are gone, you see, I grew up near a company owned coal mining town where the company employed European immigrants. Where the company built housing (called company houses they were the first duplexes) and where the company encouraged their employees to assimilate into the American culture. That is not the case today.

Not only do illegal immigrants refuse our language but recent legal immigrants as well. And to compound the problem natural born Americans of ancestry other than European, who fancy themselves a superior culture, have begun to introduce strange and illogical words into the vernacular.

Can anyone deny that the United States of America was founded on anything other than Christian doctrine? Excuse me, but I would be very receptive to the discourse from anyone who could tell me exactly what advancement to mankind has come from the Continents of Africa, Asia or South America. I’m aware of gunpowder from China and the pyramids of Egypt, but who among those people espoused principals of liberty that were capable of inspiring a people and founding a unique Nation?

You see, our country was formed in the imagination of our founders who happened to be of English, Scotch and Irish extraction. Forgive me for overlooking the French and Germans but the idea is that western Europeans were responsible for the nation we enjoy. But we have become a lazy, fearful, and spineless people who have neglected our past for the perceived rewards of the present. Popular culture would have you believe that our founders were homophobes, sexists, and racists. Now, for the most part that is correct by popular definition.

You see our founders and most of the men who instigated what has become this popular gravy train adhered to a common belief. That was that productive folk belonged and unproductive folk should find a way of becoming productive. As early as 1622, it was obvious to those who cared to learn from the experience that, according to Mort’s Relation, A journal of the Pilgrims at Plymouth, "But even among the Puritans there were some who would not work, as long as they were permitted to eat the fruit of the labors of others." Our founders knew very well the human frailties of all the various folk who made-up the colonies and they knew that to succeed it would be necessary to appeal to their higher nature, their aspiring nature rather than their baser nature. For as Christian men they were well aware that man’s instinct is base as man’s nature is base. So they were very careful in the words that they chose to submit to the permanence of writing. They were however homophobes in-as-much as they believed that men and women were intended to procreate to further the species. They were sexist in-as-much as they took to heart the Word of God that woman was designed, intended, and wonderfully made to be a help mate to man and that man was to love her, protect her and in all ways cherish her and respect their separate roles. They were racists in-as-much as they recognized the obvious fact that those who were unexposed to 1500-2000 years of Civilized History would require time and education to come to an understanding of western concepts of moral responsibility and liberty. They clearly appreciated the fact that liberty’s greatest burden is the freedom to choose between good and evil.

But I digress. Yankee mythmakers and Marxist academics that neither care for liberty nor care for the sacrifice of those who enable their freedom are afoot in our land. They have taken it upon themselves to distort our founders, our history and what we are about as a free and independent people. They have ever so subtly and pervasively focused upon the chaff of our society leaving the wheat to rot in the field.

They are the parasites and ever present folk who know what is best for you and me. Who never having accomplished anything productive of their own would lead us to believe that only they possess the answers to freedoms greatest questions. They have taken over our Universities, our media, and our government bureaucracies and they all hold the same common denominator: that they are an unproductive lot who left to their own pathetic devices would starve in anarchy, barbarism and cowardice.

My 1965 Encyclopaedia Britannica defines the word gay as an adjective that means to be filled with mirth and happiness. There is no reference to multiculturalism, feminism, African-American or kwansa. You see, the folk who contribute nothing are ever about inventing new words, new distractions that are supposed to be of such paramount importance that concepts such as liberty, responsibility, fidelity and honor pale in significance.

To those folk I would reply, humbug. There is a wisdom of the ages that has enabled gifted, intelligent and hard working folk to reach a level that is unknown to much of the world, a level that enables your laziness and permits your dangerous foolishness. What you are frittering away today was a great idea founded on the principles of liberty and free enterprise. It wasn’t girls who died face down in the mud at Concord or Shiloh. It wasn’t slaves who penned our great documents of liberty and it wasn’t queers who were responsible for reproducing a generation of men willing to sacrifice their blood for your freedom. And it also wasn’t the Confederacy or their ships that traded rum for people along western Africa’s coast. So don’t presume to condemn them for some perceived wrong centuries ago.

I am ever amazed at the sports broadcaster who interviews the college senior athlete that is unable to reply with a simple sentence. Presumably, that athlete had the benefit of 16 years or more of government education. I don’t even wish to consider the cost to taxpayers of those 16 plus years, it’s staggering. And I’ll bet he never studied Aristotle to learn about tyranny or John C. Calhoun to learn about liberty. Such is the state of maleducation in this country.

You people, ever learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth, really need to examine what it is that you are about. You are about yourselves. Your sphere of concern stops at your threshold unless of course it involves someone else’s money. You don’t care one bit about what is best for our country, out state, or our neighborhood. Your only concern is selfish and parasitic. Face up to it and do the right thing.
